Thomas Concrete Holds Key to Sustainability Through Commitment to Customers


I think it’s important to frequently view the company you work for through the eyes of the customer. When I look at Thomas Concrete I feel confident that the customer has made the best choice possible. While it may be easy for me to be a bit biased, it’s also easy for me to back up what I say with solid proof that enables us to sustain our level of service no matter

what challenges we face. Here are a few of the reasons why Thomas Concrete will always be the premier provider of concrete services:
 
Concrete is Our Specialty — We are dedicated exclusively to producing ready mix concrete and we were the first producer in the country to be ISO 9001 certified. This means that our design, production, quality control and training procedures are among the most efficient and well documented in the industry.
 
We take pride in our specialty equipment that includes our ready mix trucks, 50’ KreteVeyors and front discharge trucks that are always clean and safe.
 
Quality Product — Our state-of-the-art equipment helps us consistently deliver the finest quality product available. Our variety of mixtures include high early strength, pervious, fast drying, high strength, self-consolidating, reduced shrinkage, architectural/colored, waterproof, low heat and environmental friendly. All of the materials used to produce our concrete meet LEED requirements for regionally produced materials.
 
As a company, we replace at least 25% of the required Portland cement by utilizing recycled materials such as Class F Flyash, a by-product of coal burning power plants, and slag cement which is a by-product of the steel industry.
 
We also recycle our process water and use this to produce new concrete.
 

Outstanding Employees — Everyone at Thomas Concrete plays a vital role in the success of our company. Our ready mix drivers, plant managers, fleet management, technical services, sales and marketing, operations, account and safety management all work together toward one common goal. We provide education and training at our in-house training academy with measurable results. We have set new records in 2007 with our ACI and D.O.T. certified, safety-oriented employees. Our vehicle accidents have declined by 83 percent and the frequency of employee injuries per 100,000 yards declined by more than 81 percent. In fact, 99.99 percent of all deliveries are accident and injury free.

 

Superior Customer Service — Thomas Concrete is committed to providing top-notch service with on time delivery 24/7. Our sales force is motivated to work diligently in providing exceptional customer service. Educating our customers on our product is also an important aspect of providing superior customer service. That’s why we offer training for them as well, such as our most popular class: Concrete 101. By offering an opportunity to better understand what we do, we give ourselves an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our customers.

 

Longevity and Growth — Our more than 50 years’ experience is showcased through our 49 locations. We have 23 plants in the Atlanta, GA area, 7 in the Anderson & Greenville SC area, 6 in the Raleigh-Durham NC area, and 13 plants in Charlotte NC area. Additionally, we’ve started new construction on our latest plant on Graham Street in Charlotte.
